Pia Schiavo-Campo Interim Communications Director

Pia serves as the Interim Communications Director for WJC. She is a partner in the social impact marketing agency, Momentum Solutions Team. Pia is a marketing strategist, accredited coach, and writer. Her work centers on connecting people to a common language and skills they can use to better communicate with each other and the world.

In partnership with Momentum Solutions Team, Pia has taken on a wide range of clients. For Timelist Group, she worked closely with the nonprofit to develop stronger messaging on their website and communications strategy targeted toward communities impacted by incarceration and economic barriers. When the University of Southern California wanted to integrate two of its departments, she conducted research and stakeholder interviews for a complete rebrand including a new name, logo, and mission statement. She’s also served as a member of the communications team to Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation for the past four years and offered recommendations for a funding strategy to the Liberty Hill Foundation.

She joined Momentum from Catalyst California, where she led audience engagement strategies and campaigns for the racial justice nonprofit shaping their digital content across all platforms, including social. She also previously worked as a consultant with Zimmer Children’s Museum’s youTHink program for nearly a decade. For the museum’s youth program, she developed a social justice arts curriculum, trained art educators, and conducted civic engagement workshops to empower LAUSD students in grades 5-12 through improv and art.

Pia served on the Board of Open Paths Counseling Center, whose mission is to meet the evolving mental health needs of the community through quality counseling for individuals and families at affordable fees. During her tenure, she helped to develop a new website, establish new branding and messaging, create a board culture of trust and cooperation and assisted in navigating telehealth changes during the pandemic.

Pia is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She earned certification as a transformational coach through Leadership That Works and completed DE&I data training through Moving Beyond. She also studied and performed at the Studio Theater, Bang Comedy Theater, and Improv Olympics West. Pia’s improv and acting background influence the insight, humor, and empathy she brings to all of her projects.
