TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN:
Dear Friends,
We know that reimagining public safety in our schools and replacing systems that have harmed so many young people will take time. We believe in the power of this work, because we’ve seen what happens when we give students the tools to reshape their learning environment: more trust, less conflict, more student engagement and better academic outcomes!
As we enter the 2024-2025 school year, WJC is once in the midst of strategic planning, and it’s worth reflecting on how far we’ve come.
Over the last four years, WJC has focused on advancing the use of conflict resolution education and restorative practices in our schools and, through that work, empower young people to become agents of change.
That has led us to build the largest, scaled Conflict Resolution Education initiative in Los Angeles County.
We have grown from working on a one-time basis with a handful of schools to multi-year, district wide partnerships at more than 32 schools across more than 7 school districts – from Azusa to Inglewood, La Puente to Pasadena, El Monte to Norwalk, Hawaiian Gardens and beyond.
Thank you to all who have been a part of our journey thus far. We look forward to sharing our new Strategic Plan with you in 2025.
Elissa Barrett
WJC Executive Director
