School Peacebuilders
Tailoring to specific school needs, WJC assists in the implementation of conflict resolution education as well as peer mediation and dialogue facilitation programs. Teachers and administrators at Blair International Baccalaureate Magnet School in collaboration with WJC staff began a conflict resolution education program over the summer and fall of 2009. WJC staff developed conflict resolution curricula for use during the students’ weekly advisory period and provided peer mediation training to a group of student leaders. Developed byWJCF, the program is designed to continue conflict resolution education for Blair students from 6-12th grade. This approach allowsWJCF to build upon their skills and provide additional training so that by the end of the program high school peer mediators will be able to lead their peers in proactive discussions about important issues on campus, resolve individual and larger conflicts, and provide strong voices for building peace and resolving conflict in their community.
Currently for the 2009-2010 school year WJC is working with the following Pasadena schools:
Blair International Baccalaureate Magnet
Grover Cleveland Elementary School
John Muir High School
Marshall Fundamental Secondary School
Pasadena High School
Washington Accelerated Elementary School
